My brother is in school working on his degree in software engineering, and we've been talking about creating an RPG game. So I started working on a character design for the hero...

The Boat has Sunk.
Today I was in a car crash. The massive snow storm hit and with limited visibility and snow covered roads my car was involved in a crash that involved around 30 vehicles. my car suffered 3 collisions with 3 different vehicles. Luckily since the traffic was moving slow due to the weather i suffered only minor injuries. My car however has suffered too much damage to continue to sail the black rivers. Rest in peace mighty galleon.
On another note I was selected to participate in Uncle Ronnie's PopUp Holiday Art Shop. I could submit two pieces, I made larger versions of a couple of the monsters I drew in my sketchbook. I was on my way to drop them off when I got in the crash. so I am going to drop them off tomorow morning instead... luckily they weren't damaged in the crash either.

I went to the Winter Sketch Jam to sketch and have good times. Part of the sketch jam is a contest to design a character; this year's theme was Santa Clause. The winner receives 'The Jammy' and.... I won! (yay me)

There was a time some years ago when I would make dumb flash games to pass the time...
Here is one of them:

2008 NCN Convention in Raleigh NC
This past week I went to the National Caricaturist Network Convention in Raleigh North Carolina. I got to meet and work beside a tone of really talented artists from all over the world who have a similar interest in caricature. It has been probably the most artistically inspirational week of my life. Here are a few pictures of me, the convention and some of the work I did there. I'll put up more pictures soon.

Practice for the NCN convention
I'm leaving for the NCN (National Caricaturist Network) Convention tomorow so I thought I would practice a little.
Abnormal Canvas Growth: Studies / Illustrations
My fourth year thesis project Abnormal Canvas Growth included also a guide: a book I made to illustrate and analyze all the different types of growths. I spent a good deal of time on these drawings, so i wanted at very least for some of my favorite drawing to be seen in case some gallery goers would overlook the book. So I fiddled with the drawings, painted on them. I wont say exactly what i did to the paper to make them look this way, but i will say the drawings themselves are on a translucent surface, it is why I mounted them on glass.

Blast from the past
I thought it would be a good idea to post some older work, stuff i still like from the good old days.
This first one is a monoprint 24x36 done in 2005. With a drypoint print of a dragonfly printed on top.
For those who don't know printmaking terms monoprint means it is a unique print, there is only one copy. basically this involves drawing on a copper plate with ink and printing it. A drypoint is similar to an etching but without etching the surface with acid. Instead you simply scratch lines into the copper plate with a sharp object. It's more difficult then etching but you don't need all sorts of chemicals and it's certainly less toxic.
This is an oil painting I painted in the summer of 2005 48x48 oil on panel. Exhibited at the Union Gallery for Pause and Rewind in Kingston. Now it's being displayed on the Queen's University campus in Mackintosh-Corry Hall.
